1-2-3 Simple Steps to Beautiful Handmade Cards

 

There is something so special about receiving a handmade card that always fills me with joy. I love the feeling that someone took time to think about me and create something special with me in mind. Admittedly though, for as much as I love to receive pretty cards, I tend to shy away from making them myself. It's not that I think it's too difficult, but the mere fact that I get incredibly overwhelmed with all the choices and options. I can honestly say that it has taken me hours to make a single card before because I'm so indecisive! When I heard that the new Darice Core'dinations David Tutera Celebrate Card System takes all the guess work out of cardmaking, I couldn't wait to try it out.

 

They weren't kidding when they said that the David Tutera Celebrate Card System makes cardmaking simple! The system is set up so that each card is made up of components from Step 1, 2 & 3. All of the products in the line coordinate with each other so that you can mix and match and layer without having to worry if it goes together or not. Easy peasy!

 

Step 1: Choose a blank card for your base. The cards come in several different sizes, tons of colors and even include specialty papers with pearlized and metallic sheens to them.

 

Step 2: Choose layering pieces to add dimension and personality to your card. Step 2 layers come in a wide variety of solid colors, textures, metallics and die cut overlays. Okay, I have to be honest and say that Step 2 might have been a little bit tough for {indecisive} me, just because there are SO many cool options to choose from!

 

Step 3: Choose finish embellishments to express your sentiment, add splashes of color, and bring the final piece together. You can add as many or as few of the Step 3 components as you wish including tags, pre-layered greetings, die cuts, rhinestones, pearls, and more.

 

I'm always a sucker for do-it-yourself layered flowers! 

 

This lovely finished card took me less than ten minutes and zero frustration to put together! That's truly a near-miracle.

 

I like that the pieces can be combined in ways that make them look a bit more masculine as well. It's always so hard for me to find cards for the men in my life, so I'm really pleased that the David Tutera Paper Crafts system works well to create cards for both men and women. 

 

I was having so much fun creating and experimenting with all the components that I just kept making card after card...

 

Sawyer, my six-year-old, saw me crafting and immediately sat down to make some cards as well.

 

He skipped Step 2 and went straight to the final embellishing, but I still think he did pretty darn good job! He settled on a seashell pattern and decided to make a good luck card for one of his aunts who just graduated from college.

 

I love that the system is so simple that my first grader could make something special and elegant without any direction or parental intervention. Truly, if he can do it on his own, anyone can!
